Race Across the UK

I'm taking on Race Across the UK to support the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity!

This September, I’ll be racing from Edinburgh to Dartmouth with my teammate - navigating only by public transport and our own two feet. No shortcuts, no map apps - just strategy, endurance, and determination!

But this challenge is about more than just the adventure. I’m raising funds for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), who provide crucial support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families. From hardship grants to mental health support, financial assistance to family welfare, RNRMC is there for those who serve or have served, when they need it most.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help make a real difference. Please support my challenge and help me raise vital funds for our Naval community!

My Updates

On the road again

Monday 1st Sep
Day -1

And we are off on the epic train journey to the start.

Lightweight packing gave way to panicked food shopping. All the essentials (truffle dust and malt loaf) crammed into my bag.

We have borrowed folding bikes from Shelley Sz which we hope will make our transition across cities speedier. But this adds to the amount of things we needed to bring - helmet, lock, pump, spare inner tube, bike tool)

I decided I could spare room in my bag for 5 pairs of pants but no spares. And a pair of lovey hand knitted (by Sophie) socks (for those moments when we are cold and tired and need comfort)

Argument no 1 of the trip was me with a stern train person who made me move my bike from carriage F to carriage D. No mean feat. She made a big fuss about the fact my folded up bike was in a luggage space. I had to hold my self back from mentioning the number of times I have encountered bike spaces filled with luggage - grrrrrr the trials of being a cyclist!!!
