Participants abseil approximately 100 metres (328 ft) down the iconic Spinnaker Tower, taking in stunning views across Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent.

No prior experience is required. Professional instructors will give you a full safety briefing and guide you through the process step-by-step.

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Trainers or other closed-toe shoes with good grip are essential. Avoid loose clothing, skirts, and sandals.
RNRMC will post you a branded T-shirt to wear on the day.

Participants must meet the following requirements:
•    Minimum age: Typically 14 (with parental consent for under 18s)
•    Maximum weight: Usually around 19 stone / 120 kg

Yes! Spectators are welcome and can watch from the Gunwharf Quays waterfront area. They can also purchase tower admission tickets if they want access to the viewing platforms.

Abseils can safely run in most weather conditions, including light rain. However, high winds or severe weather may cause postponement. Organisers will confirm if a change is necessary.

Most participants need to be able to independently manage the physical requirements of the descent. If you have accessibility needs, please reach out in advance so the team can advise.

You can withdraw at any time before the descent; however, refunds are not offered and fundraising commitments may still apply.
